Temporary
food hall
Due to the construction of the new production halls, the company kitchen and the buffet had to be relocated. For the interim kitchen with all auxiliary functions and the buffet line, Telia built a lightweight hall with direct access to the dining room. The approximately 900 lunch guests per day were catered for without a problem, despite the ongoing construction work of the new production halls.
Integration of the
fire alarm system
For kitchens and tent / hall buildings Telia uses non-flammable (A1) materials or flame retardant (classification B1). Due to the proximity of the interim kitchen to the customer’s production process and to the construction process, the fire protection was particularly in focus. The lightweight hall was therefore planned as a separate fire section, the transition to the dining room was equipped in accordance with safety regulations and defined escape routes. In addition, the interim kitchen was integrated into the factory's pre-existing fire alarm system.
Protected landmark
of the company
The arrangement required for the interim kitchen was conflicting with a landmark from the founding of the company. The moving of a katsura tree - a symbol of growth and sustainability - was out of the question. With the tree unharmed, the temporary food hall was able to be extensively modified and adapted to the location of the tree. All of this ensured that Engel’s time of transition continued unhindered.
»Ventilation and fire protection are essential
for planning and approval. Interim kitchens
are treated like built-in kitchens.«
